Bringing
Hearts
Home

Heart disease is the #2 cause of death
in Canada. In southern Alberta it is the
#1 cause of death.

It's time to change this.

The Situation

It's a fact: if you live in southern Alberta, you are 15.5% more likely to have a heart attack than somone living somewhere else in Alberta1. And you have a 26.6% higher chance of dying from a cardiac issue, too2.

And, its not just you at risk. It's your friends. Your family. Your neighbours.

Everyone in southern Alberta.

Why Is This?

In the case of a heart attack, every second before you receive treatment matters. And for southern Albertans, sometimes the urgent treatment that we need is hours away in Calgary and Edmonton.

The same is true for chronic heart issues. Every year, more than 1,300 southern Albertans have to drive to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary for regular treatment.

There and back. There and back. Through winter snow and summer traffic...

No More -
It's Time to Bring
Hearts Home

This can't go on. It's time to save lives right here, right now, and strengthen the future of every community within southern Alberta.

In partnership, the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, the Cardiac Sciences Advisory Cabinet, and AHS South Zone leadership intend to alleviate this crisis by raising an estimated $30M in donations by winter of 2027.

The Vision: The Southern Alberta Cardiac Centre of Excellence

We imagine the creation of a Southern Alberta Cardiac Care Centre of Excellence – a cutting-edge facility ready to provide the same excellent standards of cardiac healthcare that other Albertans receive.

+ Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

Who Benefits From
The Cardiac Centre

The Difference You'll Make

"I came to Chinook Regional Hospital by ambulance, but unfortunately there was no lab here to perform the necessary procedures. They stabilized me and tried to arrange for an air ambulance, but that didn't happen...
